Nexus Charging Issue(s)?
I have been struggling to find a charge pattern that will cover my massive use of the phone as the battery lasts maybe 5 hours, and have encountered a pretty major issue...
My Galaxy Nexus device will ONLY charge with the micro usb cord supplied by Verizon when I purchased the phone.

First thoughts: Have you tried another cord? Are you sure it wasn't that cord? Did you plug it into multiple places?
Answer: Yes.
I have tried everything. Multiple cords, multiple plugins, different phones, the works. And it does just the opposite of that.
Does anyone have a clue as to why this is happening or also experience the same thing? This is the feeling I get when I have to deal with DRM from companies. For no reason but greed Verizon supplies me with the only cord that will charge my phone just so that when I need a new one I have to patronize their scamtastic bazaar. A MICRO USB IS A MICRO USB IS A MICRO USB! The entire point of it is to have uniformity of charging experience across the vast pool of devices! NOT to present another opportunity to force my wallet with proprietary data transfer cords!

Yeah. If you use non-Samsung USB chords, it's almost likely that those chords will only charge but
cannot access by using computer. I tried to use my LG USB chords to use Nexus and other android
phones and it didn't work. This is not even issue man lol

This is not an issue? It most certainly is an issue.
A micro-USB cord is a micro-USB cord and should work on ALL micro-USB devices. IDGAF about brand.
That is like saying "The HDMI cable that came with my graphics card works with my monitor, but the one I bought on Newegg that was made by Cellet doesn't. And I am okay with that"
The purpose of a micro-USB compatible device is to unify the cords used by all. If you're gonna have your device only compatible with your brand of cord, you might as well not use micro-USB. Use a stupid proprietary cord like Apple.

I have used several different micro-USB cords and all work fine with my (GSM) Galaxy Nexus. I do have to release the screen lock to see the files, however.

I have several Micro USB cables from brand name to JACC (just another chinese clone) cable and they work fine with my charger and pc usb connection..
As for have to release screen lock to see the files well that is expected and is a security feature which makes sense!, you wouldn't want someone else accessing the files on your device now would you.

Micro usb isnt just a Micro USB, it had voltage different between cable and what the cable is designed to send through, usually you will need a high quality cable of a thicker gauge same problem ive had with my SGS2 i can only use OEM cables never any china cables as it just wont work.

I never even unwrapped the cable that came with the phone. I have a cable at home, in the car, at work, and in my travel bag. Various cables I've had laying around. Haven't had an issue with any of them.
Not sure what's up with yours.
