My Galaxy Nexus won't download MMS text

I keep receiving an option to download MMS texts with pics, etc. Unfortunately, I am unable to download anything. As part of another thread, one moderator suggested turning off the auto-receive feature in the message settings. This did not help. Someone please help me

Did you purchase the phone through provider? Which provider and which Nexus? International or Verizon?

Used to have that problem with my Nexus S. Found a solution. When I transferred to Galaxy Nexus, at first it gave me the same problem until I went to the APN settings then reset to default. After a reboot, I can now send and receive MMS whether my wifi is on or not.
